With its release on 17 March 2023, “Shazam! Fury of The Gods” took the box office by storm, as fans are craving superhero entertainment. The film stars Zachary Levi as Shazam, along with a cast of decorated actors. In comics, the story of the titular character, Billy Batson is interlinked with the character of Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam since they’re two sides of the same coin.

Naturally, fans of the former WWE wrestler expected some Easter eggs and references about Black Adam, in the latest installment. Even though they did acknowledge the characters’ existence, fans won’t be too happy with the way they did it. To their disappointment, the makers only included a subtle nod to the characters sharing the same universe in the mid-credits scene towards the end.

The makers didn’t even mention Dwayne Johnson’s character. Instead, they included a scene inducting Billy Batson into ‘The Justice Society’ as a subtle nod to Johnson’s film.

What is Black Adam’s future in the DC Universe?

The Dwayne Johnson feature did decent numbers at the Box office, collecting $83.4 million on the opening weekend. Moreover, fans were happy to see The Rock’s accurate portrayal of the iconic character. However, the DC Universe didn’t announce any sequel for Black Adam in the coming years as The Rock departed the franchise after the studio appointed new bosses.
