Dwayne Johnson has an impressive track record at the box office. His star power and crossover appeal have led to the revival of some franchises over the years and breathed new life into them.
It was with this hope that DC acquired his services to reinvigorate their maligned superhero franchise. But DJ’s Black Adam failed to turn around DC’s fortunes. The movie didn’t do the numbers expected of a superhero film in this day and age and incurred heavy losses for the studios.
However, this doesn’t mean that The Rock has lost his magical touch or isn’t a big enough name anymore. The recent update about one of his hit movies going strong on Netflix three years after its release certainly proves that his reputation still stands.

Dwayne Johnson continues to find success with Jumanji: The Next Level
One movie The Rock turned into a box office hit was the 2017 adventure comedy Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The success of that movie helped project DJ as a big name at the box office and led to a sequel after it grossed a stunning $962 million.
In 2019, the former WWE Champion was back with Jumanji: The Next Level and yet again proved his drawing prowess, which continues to do well even today.

After its release, the movie grossed over $800 million at the box office and was a huge success. This lent credibility to The Brahma Bull having a golden touch when it came to reviving franchises. Now, even after three years of its release, the film continues to showcase its success on Netflix.
According to a report in Giant Freakin Robot, Jumanji: The Next Level, is currently the fourth most-watched movie on Netflix. Considering the number of new releases that feature on Netflix these days, with the OTT platform having its own productions as well, this is an impressive feat.
The film was released three years ago and is still one of the most-watched movies currently on Netflix.

Hence, there can be little doubt that The Rock remains a top draw, and his presence will bring attention and fame to a franchise. The Great One once referred to himself as the “franchise viagra” and proved it with many hits.
Although his recent debacle with DC was a forgettable experience, it doesn’t take away from the fact that he is still a big name at the box office. His mass appeal and enduring popularity mean that Dwayne Johnson may still be the go-to name for studios looking to launch or revive a franchise.
