Being a professional wrestler often comes with its own set of pros and cons. And one of the most heartbreaking cons are injuries. Although, injuries are a part of the game, often the extent of an injury can lead to a halt in a superstar’s career. And recently, a former WWE superstar revealed for the first time suffering from a serious neck injury.

39-year-old Summer Rae aka Danielle Moinet, was one of the most popular female names on the roster. She is most vividly remembered for her pairing alongside Fandango. Recently, during an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Rae would address the injuries and what is possibly hampering her comeback to the squared circle.

What injury is former WWE superstar Summer Rae going through?

Prior to her time in WWE, Rae was a football player for the Chicago Bliss in the LFL. Rae would join WWE in the development territory of FCW and work her way through there. She would spend a lengthy time at the promotion from 2011 to 2017, before making a short return in 2022.

Her time in WWE saw her form a pairing with another former WWE superstar Eva Marie during their time in Total Divas, and a feud with other stars such as Lana and Natalya.

After leaving WWE in 2017, she would only wrestle for a year in the independent circuit. And soon after that, she would steadily go missing from the wrestling scene. During her recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, the latter would ask her about a wrestling return, to which she revealed suffering from a serious neck injury.

Rae said, “Yeah! So I miss wrestling. I have a bone spur vertebrae on my neck and I have a thoracic outlet syndrome. So, I’m doing good but at the end of my injury I kind of like had the tingling in my hand where I couldn’t really open doors and that was a little scary to me.”

Rae had problems with her neck in the past and had even addressed the same injuries last year. A neck injury is always dangerous, and can anytime cut a career short. Over the years, several superstars exist whose careers were cut short due to neck injuries.

Over the years, several superstars had the unfortunate fate of undergoing a serious neck injury that cut their careers short. Names such as, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Edge, and even Daniel Bryan. Although, Austin and Hart continued wrestling despite breaking their neck, Edge and Bryan had to retire.

However, both Edge and Daniel Bryan would later make their comeback to wrestling. Unfortunately, Summer Rae is yet to make her return to WWE or pro wrestling in any form.
