During the conversation, Colin Cowherd asserted Hulk Hogan, The Rock, and Stone Cold were the greatest three wrestlers, in his opinion. Ross completely agrees and adds Ric Flair as the fourth member, saying, “That would be my Rushmore Flair, Hogan, Rock, Austin.”

Indeed, they are the four of the greatest superstars in sports who have made significant contributions to the sport. He goes on to explain, “The Proliferation of the WWE, then the WWF going global going national first obviously was Hogan. Hogan was the lead mule that pulled the wagon to take McMahon further down the road.”

Ross noted Hulkster was the first superstar to go global. Notably, he possessed all the characteristics required of 80s wrestlers: the nice guy persona, charisma, and massive physique. Additionally, his appearances in movies and TV shows helped him in capturing the world’s attention.

Moreover, he stated, “Then we get Austin and The Rock that takes the WWE from a private company to a publically traded company as it is now. And all those big stars for me are the guys that belong on that Mount Rushmore.”

The WWE didn’t have many superstars at the beginning of the PG Era, aside from John Cena, as is well known. Due to the lack of significant icons, WWE witnessed a decline in ratings. If there are no sports heroes or icons, the audience will not be interested in the sport.

Superstars undoubtedly contributed to the promotion due to their ability to keep viewers’ attention and keep them glued to the TV. The attitude period was also popular due to various stars like The Rock, Austin, HHH, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and many more.
