After almost four decades of participating in the sport of wrestling, Sting has finally decided to put an end to his career. Eight years ago, he was forced to leave the profession behind because of an injury, but this year, he has decided to stay put for good. The wrestler will be seen performing for the last time on March 3rd this year.

As AEW Revolution is drawing closer with each passing hour, let’s look at the possibilities that Tony Khan may opt for to make this event more impactful. Since the highlight of the PPV is going to be Sting’s retirement match, we may see some legends returning.

The CEO of AEW has been pretty successful in signing former WWE wrestlers for his company. So, it would make sense if the businessman called in other wrestling legends and offered them good pay to help make Sting’s retirement match even better.

For starters, we can say that legends like DDP and Goldberg can make an appearance for their former colleague. Since neither of these wrestlers had bad blood for Sting, it would make sense for them to appear and help escalate the match rating.

The possibility of Arn Anderson‘s appearance can’t be overlooked either because he has also worked with the WCW legend in the past.

At last, The Steiner Brothers could also interfere in the tag team match, recalling the moments when they faced Sting during their old tag team matches.

Even though these wrestlers have also served a good career run in WWE, Sting’s run in the Stamford-based company wasn’t satisfying to many fans.

The reason why Sting’s WWE run didn’t live up to the mark

After denying to sign a contract with WWE for almost two decades, Sting finally showed up at Survivor Series ’14. It was a dream come true for many long-term wrestling fans who had been waiting for Sting’s appearance in the promotion.

Disappointingly, WWE let one of its biggest signings go to waste when it didn’t fully utilize the potential that the wrestling legend had. Eventually, the promotion further lost the opportunity when Sting suffered a severe neck injury in 2016, forcing him to retire briefly.

The wrestling superstar revived his career several years later at AEW Revolution 2021, and now, he is finally ready to retire from the role of a performer.
