While heading AEW, Tony Khan is no stranger to feuds as the promotion’s CEO enjoys diving headfirst into confrontations with critics. A prominent figure who doesn’t back off from calling out the CEO of AEW is Eric Bischoff. There have been several moments when the latter has taken the liberty to either guide Khan on how he should instead be handling his promotion or has straight up dragged him for not being a good enough booker or manager.

Recently on his podcast, Bischoff sat down with this topic of why he is usually critical of Tony Khan. The WWE legend had an interesting take on the matter, rooted in the opening days of AEW.

Among all the other people to call out AEW’s CEO, Bischoff’s comments often stand out as he is well known for taking shots at Tony Khan’s way of handling his wrestling company. However, the main reason behind his criticism does not lie with Khan at all. Instead, it happened because of what he had said in the past.

During the opening days of AEW, Khan made a comment saying, “AEW isn’t going to make the same mistakes as WCW did.” This was the moment when he grabbed Bischoff’s attention.

While replying to a fan asking him about why he is critical of the businessman on 83 Weeks, Bischoff confessed honestly, “That comment was so disrespectful, f**king stupid, because Tony didn’t have any idea what happened to WCW inside Turner. The only thing Tony Khan knows about WCW is what he read in dirt sheets.” Bischoff later added, “Once I lose respect for somebody, I’m not as inhibited about my opinion.

So, according to the former WCW figure, if Khan hadn’t made that comment, he might have spared himself a virtual verbal rivalry.

Even a few days ago, Bischoff and Khan were seen taking shots at each other on ‘X’. It started with the 41-year-old ranting against WWE, then Bischoff coming to his former workplace’s rescue.

The booker of AEW has recently been trying to defend his booking skills wherever he gets the chance. Before the last AEW Dynamite, Khan took to ‘X’ and tweeted out against a recent WWE booking that he found absurd. He wanted to criticize his opposition while promoting his own upcoming show. However, things took a turn when Bischoff laid eyes on the same tweet.
