Chelsea Green must be on cloud nine after capturing the WWE women’s tag team titles on Monday Night Raw. Along with Sonya Deville, she defeated champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to shock the world. 

Celebrating her first championship victory in WWE, a former US champion greeted her, after being released by Vince McMahon in 2020. 

What did Green post on her social media?

Chelsea Green got married to former US champion Zack Ryder, aka Matt Cardona, in 2021. The new tag team champion recently posted a picture of her and Ryder celebrating her win on social media. The male wrestler appeared for the first time since leaving WWE in 2020.

In a show that featured Brock Lesnar attacking Cody Rhodes and KO and Sami Zayn taking on Judgement Day, the show’s highlight featured Green and Deville capturing the women’s tag team titles.

The WWE Universe became nostalgic seeing Ryder for the 1st time in over 3 years. After making his debut in 2005, Ryder stayed in WWE for 15 years, till the organization released him as part of budget cuts stemming from COVID in 2020. 

Nevertheless, fans were delighted to see the fan-favorite wrestler make a temporary comeback to the organization on account of his wife’s historic win. Moreover, the male star now plies his trade in the indie scene after enjoying fruitful spells with AEW and Impact Wrestling.

What’s Cardona up to after leaving Vince McMahon?

Since his departure, Ryder has made jumps to All Elite Wrestling(AEW) and Impact Wrestling, having brief stints in both organizations. The former Intercontinental champion is now wrestling in the independent scene. The 38-year-old is scheduled to face Tetsuya Endo for the DDT championship on July 23rd, at the DDT pro-wrestling promotion.

As for Green, she will look to continue their momentum and remain champion for the long haul. Especially, since the last reign involving Morgan and Rodriguez lasted only 39 days. 

While Chelsea Green remains in WWE, Mat Cardona would hope to shine brightly in the indie scene. However, WWE fans would like to see him come back and work under the current COO, Triple H.
