The relationship between John Cena and Nikki Bella was well documented in the WWE. Their real-life relationship was heavily featured on the WWE Divas TV show. However, parts of their relationship were not made public until late, shocking fans. From a massive contract, Bella had to sign to rules she had to follow. Everything showcased how much of a disciplinarian Cena was.

The two started dating after years of friendship in 2012. Cena proposed in 2017 before calling it quits in 2018.

According to reports, Cena and Bella were close friends while working in the WWE. This friendship spanned years before they began dating in 2012. Just a year later, in 2013, she moved into Cena’s place. However, Bella was not expecting a 75-page agreement to sign to do so.

According to sources and both Cena and Bella, the agreement ensured that the former WWE Divas champion would always remain a guest in Cena’s home. If the Hollywood star ever asked her to leave, she was to do so, no questions asked. This was shocking to WWE fans when they heard it. However, Cena claimed it was for security reasons. However, later on, he claimed it was absurd.

The next shocker was that this was just a part of the 15 rules Cena had laid out for Bella. Among the other rules were no pets, tracking calories, objections to being filmed for Total Divas or Total Bellas, no pets, no kids, and much more.

The rules also stated that there would be no badmouthing of the WWE. Fans believed this showed John Cena’s loyalty to the company. Despite taking a stance against the authority during a storyline, Cena would never go against the company. Nevertheless, the relationship between the WWE stars didn’t end well despite an iconic wedding proposal at WrestleMania 33.

The inevitable falling out of Cena and Bella

Despite the rules and contracts, Cena and Bella stayed together from 2012 to 2018. This also included the biggest highlight when the WWE icon proposed to Bella. Cena proposed at WrestleMania 33 at the Grandest Stage of Them All. This came after their inter-gender tag match with The Miz and his wife, Maryse. The fans at the Citrus Bowl Arena in Orlando, Florida, went wild as Cena got on one knee.

However, happiness would not last as the two split a year later in 2018. According to Bella, she wanted to become a mother, whereas Cena was not ready to commit. The difference in that aspect of life drove them apart.
