Hulk Hogan said he tried to get other wrestlers over in his career
The wrestling world is no stranger to stories about Hulk Hogan being reluctant to do the job for other people and using his pull to get his way. One of the infamous incidents that only added to this notion was the SummerSlam 2005 match between Hogan and Shawn Michaels.
As Hogan went over in the match, fans once again pointed their fingers at the Immortal One. Fans called him out for being selfish and yet another example of him not doing what was right.
Over the years, many such stories have come out of Hogan being protective of his legacy and winning too many times when he didn’t have to.

However, in a 2015 interview, Hulk Hogan addressed this while discussing his match with the Heart Break Kid.
Hogan said that he would’ve laid down for Michaels had Vince decided to go with it. He further said that it was Vince’s idea of having him win the match at SummerSlam. The legend said he would’ve had no problem in doing the job contrary to the popular belief.

The WWE Hall of Famer said he lost more matches than he won in the last 15 years.
Hogan commented, “If you go back and look at my career, I’ve pretty much lost more matches [in the last 15 years of my career] than I’ve won, trying to get guys over from Triple H to The Undertaker to The Rock, you name it.
He continued, “And I don’t win too many matches, but it’s business. I’m trying to help these guys.” Although the SummerSlam match between him and Michaels had problems from the beginning, there have many other incidents of Hogan getting the win when it was not necessary.

His claim about losing more than winning may not be that accurate either. The stats do show Hogan won more in that period than he lost.
Still, during his long career, he laid down for quite a number of wrestlers as well. He lost clean to the likes of The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar and The Rock and others during his last stint in WWE as an active wrestler.
As he was WWE’s biggest star for almost a decade, the company booked him to look strong. They protected his legacy for a long time when he became a huge star.
