In case you didn’t know, Hulkster never tapped out and had a history of breaking out of locks. The Iron Sheik encounter at Madison Square Garden is the greatest example of that, in which he escaped the camel’s clutch and triumphed.

Talking about his famous King of the Ring match, Angle mentioned that Hogan had told him that when he got to the ropes, Angle should have left his lock. However, he didn’t break and pulled him, although he grabbed the ropes.

Angle stated, “So what he was going to do if we were going to continue on with the storyline between Hogan and I was go back on TV and say, Hey, I got to the ropes and you didn’t break the lock.”

“And so that match was illegitimate. So Hogan wanted to gripe he wanted to make sure that people knew that he didn’t really tap out. And I was cool. I said, Hogan, whatever you want to do, that’s cool. As long as you tap out and I’m fine with that.”
