“I Actually Called The Rock”: Dwayne Johnson Gave ‘Weird’ Acting Advice to Former WWE Rival-Turned Hollywood Star The Miz

Dwayne Johnson blazed a trail for pro wrestlers to have successful acting careers in Hollywood. Very few wrestlers can claim to have the fame and success of The Great One in the film industry. Hence, it is no surprise that current WWE star The Miz asked The Rock for advice when he started his acting career.

The Rock has always been ready to help out his co-stars and those who seek his advice. This was the case again when Miz reached out to him before his first acting role. The Miz said People’s Champion gave him great advice that helped him a good deal.

Dwayne Johnson’s acting career

Dwayne Johnson followed his hugely successful WWE career by becoming an even bigger movie star. Currently, he is one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood. He has starred in hit movies like Jumanji, Fast and Furious franchise, Jungle Cruise, and many more. Moreover, he recently got into action in his first superhero role as DC’s Black Adam. The Rock has earned plaudits for his natural acting and easily fitting into a variety of roles.

So it was only obvious that WWE star Miz turned to the seasoned actor for guidance before his first film. The A-Lister revealed he texted The Rock for advice ahead of filming for his first role in The Marine 3.

What acting advice Dwayne Johnson gave The Miz?

Speaking on Off The Beat with Brian Baumgartner, The Miz recalled, “I’ll never forget I actually called The Rock, I texted him and I said, ‘Hey, man, I’m about to star in my first movie, getting ready to do my first scene. Is there any advice you can give me?'” The Awesome One said that The Rock called and told him to act natural.

He continued, “He was like, ‘Dude, the best thing that I could tell you and help you out with is just be natural. And it’s gonna sound so easy and so weird, but once you get there, there’s gonna be three or four cameras. You’re gonna have to hit a spot that you can’t look at. You can’t look at the spot.” Miz also added that it was great advice. He said it helped him to avoid a robotic portrayal of his character. DJ’s advice has helped The Miz land a few other movie roles as he continues to build his acting resume.

This isn’t also the first time Dwayne Johnson helped out a fellow WWE star when it came to acting. John Cena revealed during a Q&A at Comic-Con in Wales that his former in-ring rival’s advice about acting helped him when he was starting out in Hollywood. Interestingly, The Rock and John Cena teamed up to wrestle The Miz and R-Truth in WWE in 2011.

All these stars have come a long way with both The Miz and Cena following in the footsteps of The Rock into Hollywood.
