Unlike Dwayne Johnson, John Cena didn’t have an explosive start in the movie industry. While both are doing amazingly in their respective acting career, the starting pad for both was as different as it could be. They offered Johnson a massive role in The Mummy series, and a follow-up movie, Scorpion King. Meanwhile, the 16-time World Champion was the right guy in the right place for his first movie, The Marine.

Unfortunately for him, he was very green to be working in movies. Even his on-screen WWE acting and segments weren’t any better at the time. So doing a movie was the worst thing for him. But there’s nothing like remembering your past and being grateful for the experiences that shaped the person you are in the present. And that is exactly what John Cena did when he talked about the humble beginnings in the movie industry a few months ago.

John Cena once unveiled one of his gruesome truths about his acting career

In the popular series, ‘Celebrity Breaks Down Their Most Iconic Characters’, Cena appeared and revealed facts about his first role in the Marine. He said, “I left a small meeting in his office and packed my bags, and went to be in the movies — which I knew nothing about. I’m a young man in his mid-20s, love the life I’m leading.

He added, “Riding a lightning bolt of live audiences every night, I’m champion at the time, and as a former athlete, I get to be physical all the time. I have what I believe is a good work-life balance — and then I get thrown into cinematic creativity, which is very patient. It’s a very slow process. And I just wasn’t ready for it.”

The true story behind his first role is that Stone Cold Steve Austin was supposed to act in the key role in The Marine. But for unknown reasons, he couldn’t do the movie, and since Cena was the biggest name in WWE, he was offered the role. That is the reason why Cena comes off as a terrible actor in this movie. The man was at the beginning of his monumental rise in the wrestling industry, and the pressure to act in a movie was too much for the young wrestler.
