One of the many things WWE does really well is build hype for their big matches through video packages. The promotion goes up a notch when a match is the main event of WrestleMania and the company goes all out to elicit all kinds of emotions from the fans. This was the case during the main event of WrestleMania 27 between John Cena and The Miz. Before the entry of each superstar, WWE played a promo package on the big screen, highlighting key perspectives from their pro wrestling journeys.
John Cena, a well established main eventer by this time, had a video package which featured a background score of Prayer III by DMX. The video showcased the early days of The Champ and even had shots of his time in OVW. It also gave an insight into Cena’s connection with the fans, especially young kids, who saw him as an inspiration. After the video resurfaced on Twitter, fans began fondly recalling the promo packages for both stars on that night.

Fans show appreciation for WrestleMania 27 video package featuring John Cena
Sometimes the hype lives up to the occasion, and at times it falls short of expectation. With the John Cena vs The Miz match at WrestleMania 27, the latter turned out to be true. The Miz entered the contest as the defending WWE Champion in his first WrestleMania main event against serial headliner Cena. Although the match and the event as a whole is less keenly remembered by the fans, before the last match of the night got underway, they were awe-struck by the promo packages for both.

Perhaps the match falling flat later or Dwayne Johnson showing up afterwards made fans forget how compelling the promo packages were for both Cena and The Miz before their respective entrances. ‘The Franchise Player’ in his heyday as the company’s leading man had special entrances for his WrestleMania matches, and this was the case here as well.
Certainly the promo’s background score by DMX and the various shots of Cena interacting with his fans in the video made this a spine tingling effort from WWE. After Cena’s promo package resurfaced, fans also reminisced about The Miz’s video. In the promo, the video showcased the likes of Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock, before switching to The Miz’s WWE title win.

Moreover, the video highlights his rise from a reality TV star seen as an outcast to winning the most prestigious prize in WWE. The background score of Now Hate Me by Nas makes it one of the best video packages presented by WWE. Cena’s promo video began doing rounds online, fans began appreciating it while also recalling The Miz’s video at WrestleMania 27.
The only video package to make me teary eyed. DMX, the video itself, just perfect. https://t.co/oAh3R7vhn1

I remember when the Miz's hate me now video package played and I thought to myself "this is the pinnacle of video packages" and then they did this. This is why I'm lifelong on this pro wrestling shit.

I was 17 years old when my dad, sister and I went to Mania 27 in Atlanta and I was enthralled by @JohnCena’s entrance! I didn’t even know @DMX had a prayer so I thought he did it specifically for him!
But people don’t praise it because it’s on a Mania that people don’t like. https://t.co/qDANWyQw9G

The ‘A-Lister’ did manage to pick up the win over Cena before The Rock hit him with a Rock Bottom to close the show. Still, it is the hype, and the excitement generated from these video packages that the fans recall more earnestly.
