WWE has ruled professional wrestling as a brand for a very long time. Many new brands tried to accomplish and compete with WWE but failed. But recently, Tony Khan and AEW have presented a tough competition to the monopoly of WWE.

Already, AEW has acquired many iconic superstars of WWE such as Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Chris Jericho, Big Show, and the list has many more big names. Recently, talking on a YouTube channel, Tony Khan heavily slammed WWE, claiming one of their roster a complete failure.

Tony Khan promised a better Friday-night show than WWE Raw

In a recent interview with ‘Robbie Fox’ on My Mom’s Basement, Tony Khan issued some big statements. He classified this week’s WWE Raw as a total failure, and even talked about one of WWE’s shows, and said, “It s*cked”. He also promised for a far better Friday-night Rampage of AEW.

In response to this, Vince McMahon, the chairperson of WWE, planned to go head-to-head for the first 30 minutes of AEW’s Rampage. On this, Tony said, It’s the second time they’ve decided to go head-to-head with us. A lot of people have chosen to watch AEW because it’s the best show.”

AEW’s strong competition to WWE in all forms

AEW is in its progressing phase. For the complete September, AEW’s performance was magnificent. Their Wednesday night roster ‘Dynamite‘ competed with WWE’s Monday night ‘Raw’ on television ratings.

The difference was very marginal. However, since August 2021, AEW’s B-show Rampage is facing a record decline in its television audience. Despite that, it is for the first time that WWE has faced such a serious challenge from any brand, after the fall of ECW, WCW, and TNT. The graph below depicts the cable ratings.

It is clear from these numbers that how well AEW is working to compete with WWE. Tony knows WWE is not only a franchise but a brand. So he is expecting and wants to put out a better show than WWE’s Raw. Although he is not sure about the ratings because he knows it will take some time to attract such an enormous fan base.

Tony’s strategic moves have shocked McMahon. Superstars that AEW has now signed have attracted more social media fanbases, pages, and articles. Despite that, WWE has eaten up so many competitors in the past, therefore, many believe it will be difficult for Tony and his AEW to supersede the WWE empire.

For now, let’s wait for the Friday night Rampage, then only we can give our affirmations on Tony’s loud words. Let us know your opinions about the situation.
