Hulk Hogan, arguably the greatest wrestler to ever enter a ring, ruled the pro wrestling business at its peak and dominated the WWE. He returned to the company in 2002, but this time he had little impact, and he left the company barely six months after his match with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson at WrestleMania.
On a recent episode of the ‘Grilling JR’ podcast, legendary commentator Jim Ross addressed Hulkster’s departure from the company and revealed the actual reason for his decision.

In his prime, Hogan was without a doubt, the genuine deal, and fans lined up to see him perform. Even while he continued to be passionate and had some great moments in his career later, like his match at WrestleMania versus The People’s champion, it wasn’t the same as his initial run.
Jim Ross alleged that while talking with Conrad Thompson about the same subject. Hogan recognized he wouldn’t be the same top guy he had been. Additionally, he had little to offer following his contest with Brahma Bull.
In his words, “I think the general consensus was that we had gotten all the productivity from this. This old veteran that had back her horrible back issues, health issues. Maybe we got all this. Maybe we got all the juice out of the vine. I don’t know.”
“But I think that was the idea was that we would come to an end and I think Hogan is smart enough, I realized, you’re not gonna be in all the main events, you’re gonna not be in any of the major events, because we’re gonna go young, and we’re gonna go with Brock Lesnar.”

WWE favored Brock Lesnar over Hulk Hogan
While he continued to enjoy massive support during his later years in the industry, WWE picked Brock Lesnar instead, since he would eventually gain notoriety. Later, Lesnar seized the opportunity, and he quickly advanced to become WWE’s youngest champion.

Hogan allegedly wasn’t happy with the money he was receiving as well. After he departed, he entered the Australian and other pro wrestling promotions and dominated there.
