Fans of WWE have slowly observed a shift in the landscape. Many veteran stars have taken a back seat, and the focus has been on creating some fresh stars for the company. One such star taking the scene by storm is 2023 Royal Rumble winner, Cody Rhodes. The former AEW wrestler re-joined the WWE, after solidifying his reputation as a global star.

Recently, WWE veteran Mark Henry commented on the sudden rise of The American Nightmare, and how it fares well for the company.

In a recent episode of the ‘Busted Open’ podcast, Mark Henry explains how the WWE capitalized on Rhodes’ popularity with the audience. Coming from AEW as an enormous star, Henry said WWE made the right decision to introduce Rhodes as the lovable babyface.

Moreover, Henry drew an interesting comparison between Rhodes and an offense in the NFL and said, “It’s like, you’re an offense in the NFL, like the ravens. That’s geared towards running at the quarterback and throwing it to the tight end, and then all of a sudden you say ‘You know what guys? Let’s go with the spread…Let’s throw it around a yard.”

The former AEW star has the talent and ability to be the show’s front-runner and carry the company for years to come. According to Henry, it’s only logical for them to put him in the spotlight.

Henry added, “Why would you bring somebody with the aura of Cody Rhodes, and not push that guy to the moon?” Therefore, the WWE Hall of Famer felt like WWE hit a jackpot in that aspect.

‘The American Nightmare’ is here to stay

Cody Rhodes can hook the audience with his charm. Fans even compared him to John Cena, one of the greatest babyfaces in the modern era. Moreover, Mark Henry expressed Rhodes as the main reason for people to tune in for the Monday night RAW despite the ever-growing popularity of established veterans like Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.

Henry commented, “(Rhodes) is the main reason why (people are watching Monday RAW)…and that’s saying a lot.”

Modern WWE Fans are getting to witness the rise of a sensational star, Cody Rhodes. His storyline so far is just the beginning. Fans can’t wait to see his upcoming match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.
