Fans who were present at the venue to watch Monday Night Raw on 03/18, spotted Matt Hardy at the stadium. This surprise appearance, combined with the ongoing rumors of the WWE legend coming back to his former workplace, fired up the internet. Several fans saw this as a foreshadowing of his return to the Stamford-based company at WWE’s upcoming PLE.

A lot of viewers were anticipating some sort of hint regarding his WWE return and this seemed to be one of them. However, Matt Hardy has finally spoken up about the reason as to why he was seen at Raw that night.

Matt Hardy reveals that his appearance at Raw was a coincidence

Having made his name in the wrestling industry with his talent paid off as fans cannot hold themselves back when they see the legendary wrestler in public. Seeing Matt Hardy at the venue on March 18th caused the news to spread like wildfire. On the same show, Michael Cole had teased a “brother vs brother” match for WrestleMania 40, leading fans to speculate that Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy will return to wrestle against each other.

After clearing out that this tease was for Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso instead, Hardy revealed the real reason behind his appearance on Monday Night Raw in the crowd.

Hardy was out with his wife when the latter’s friend approached the couple and convinced them to come to a suite they had free close to the location where Raw was taking place. Talking about this incident in The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, he said, “So we actually went, Reby hung out with her friends for a little bit and while I was there, the sky box, the suite was pretty open in the front and yes I did get recognized and people started forming a line to take photos with me and what not.”

By the looks of it, this seems purely accidental, but Matt Hardy did not turn down whether the rumors of his return were true or not. On the same day that this incident happened, Hardy took to Instagram and uploaded a post that pointed toward the possibility of his WWE return. He had re-uploaded an old video that took him 21 years back. The clip that the wrestler shared was from a match that he had against Nova at WWE Velocity in 2003.

In the video, we can see Hardy defeating his opponent as the reigning Cruiserweight Champion and pinning him down for another title retention. He credited the internet for bringing up this video. However, it seems like he is trying to hint at something.
