Earlier this year, Ronda Rousey made a stunning return to WWE at the Royal Rumble. She entered the Women’s Rumble match at no. 28 and won the match, finally eliminating Charlotte Flair. This was one of Rousey’s finest moments in a WWE ring, but she didn’t enjoy it as she would’ve liked to.

The former UFC Champion made her return to the WWE after a nearly three-year hiatus. Before her Rumble appearance, she was last seen in WWE in 2019. She headlined WrestleMania along with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch that year.

Although this was a triumphant return for her, the ‘Rowdy One’ said she couldn’t enjoy the moment.

Ronda Rousey was expecting the worst

During the last days of her reign as the WWE RAW Women’s Champion, the fans had somewhat turned against Ronda Rousey.

Fans heavily favored Becky Lynch, who was getting monstrous reactions live in the arena. The fans often booed the UFC Hall of Famer when she went up against Lynch.

In an interview with the MMA legend, Daniel Cormier on “DC Check-In” Rousey revealed she was supposed to return as a heel and expected boos.

She stated, “I was expecting boos. I came out with my guard up. I didn’t get to enjoy that moment because I was expecting what I got on the way out. So when I came out and everyone popped. I just blocked them out, didn’t let them in, and just went in, did my job and got out. I think I kind of really missed out on enjoying that moment, because I was expecting the worst.”

The reaction of the crowd to Rousey’s return forced WWE to have her appear on RAW as a face. She explained she wanted to go in as a heel but the management told her “you need to smile and you need to stop being a b***h”.
