The former WWE star talked about who he thinks a young NXT star is all ready for the big push and he always saw it coming.

Talking with his co-host on the Busted Open podcast Denise Salcedo, the former Nation of Domination star spoke about how Carmelo Hayes could be the next big thing. While talking about Hayes, he stated that he had told him that he could see the potential in him but was unsure whether Hayes saw it in himself. Henry said, “My experience tells me Carmelo Hayes is going to be the next one.” His statement does hold some weight as the former WWE star is the talent scout at AEW.

While discussing the topic of Hayes, he said that Hayes doesn’t see himself as someone who will make it big eventually. When Salcedo asked him why Hayes doesn’t believe in himself, Henry said that it had to do with the narrative presented to him. One factor could be his short stature. “You are too small”, Henry said, believing that this might be the factor limiting Hayes’s progress.

However, Henry believes that the big push for Carmelo Hayes has already started. A few weeks ago, Logan Paul announced that he would be conducting a series of fights to decide who would be the next contender for his United States Championship belt. It was also announced that one mystery star from NXT would be a possible contender on the road for the belt. It was revealed that it would be Carmelo Hayes, representing the NXT brand.

Henry believes that this is the catalyst that will help Hayes to propel forward. “It already started”, said the 52-year-old star. He further added, “Because what happened? Shawn Micheals chose him.” Hayes made his SmackDown debut on the 12/16 episode as a participant for the Number 1 Contender. There he squared off against Grayson Waller and surprisingly defeated The Arrogant Aussie on his blue brand debut.
