The Mysterios are a dysfunctional family. The feud between Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio started when the latter felt like his father constantly kept keeping him under his shadow. Ever since Dom turned heel, he went against his father, to the extent that the duo had a match at WrestleMania 39. Despite everything they have been through, it looks like Rey has still got a soft spot in his heart for his kid.
The junior Mysterio uploaded a picture of himself on Instagram, flexing his latest achievement. His father, rather than opposing his victory, appreciated it with a subtle gesture. Is there a ray of hope for the family after everything?

Dominik Mysterio’s achievement and his father’s reaction
After losing to The American Nightmare at MITB, Mysterio set his eyes on something bigger. This time around, Dominik wanted to bag a championship. The WWE Hall of Famer’s son defeated Wes Lee for his NXT North American Championship. After acquiring the title for himself, Dominik couldn’t resist uploading a picture of himself with the title belt. He also wrote the caption on his Instagram post, “Stay mad😏😈#TheJudgmentDay#andnewwww“.
When Rey Mysterio and his wife Angie Gutierrez came across this post, their reaction was unexpected. The parents were proud of their son. To not make their action too obvious, neither of them commented on or shared the post. However, we can see that they couldn’t resist liking the picture, as it flexed what Dominik achieved, winning his first-ever singles title in WWE.

Dominik started his WWE career with him operating under his father’s shadow. The wrestler didn’t achieve a singles championship all that while. However, now, after changing his company, he embarked on solo adventures, one of which resulted in his current achievement.
This contradicts what the WWE universe had to say about Mysterio using his family name to get on the main roster.
The WWE Universe doubted Dominik Mysterio’s capabilities
A few months ago, a fact resurfaced on the internet. It reminded WWE fans that Mysterio did not undergo training via the NXT route like the usual new talent at WWE. Instead, he was able to join the main roster as soon as he signed with the wrestling promotion.
When fans relearned this, they bombarded Dominik Mysterio for misusing his family legacy. They accused him of skipping an important stage in his career just because he was privileged enough.
Several fans also suggested that the young wrestler should go back to the developmental brand. They reckoned it would help him with the problems he must be facing regarding his gimmick presentation during live events. Some even claimed that no good will come to the wrestler after he is wrapped up with the ‘father-son duel’ storyline.

It looks like Dominik took the suggestion seriously as he went back to NXT, only to prove the opinions of several WWE fans wrong.
