Hulk Hogan is, without a doubt, one of the greatest and most iconic wrestlers of all time. His physical features, character, and charm combined to make him the hottest seller of the time. However, the origin of his name has been a topic of discussion among WWE fans. In response, he mentioned the interview wherein the question “Are you bigger than Hulk?” was asked. The reporter was referring to the 1970s tv show The Incredible.

If you didn’t know, one of the best bodybuilders of the time, Lou Ferrigno, who had a massive physique, weighed 280 pounds, and stood close to 6 feet tall, was portrayed as The Hulk in the show. Replying to the reporter’s question, Hulkster introduced himself as Terry ‘The Hulk’ Boulder. Consequently, Vince McMahon gave it the name Hulk Hogan when he joined the WWF (now WWE).

Notably, Marvel Comics signed a deal with the then-WWF to use the ‘Hulk’ name, which is clearly associated with The Incredible Hulk and is owned by Marvel. And recently, a photo of Hulk vs Hulk resurfaced on the internet.

Hulk Hogan vs The Hulk

During the 80s and 90s, Hulkamania made his name all over the world and was the most popular star of the era. Comics Presents #45, which was also released in 1990, was another publication. Meanwhile, Marvel also made use of the Hogan buzz.

In the humorous storyline, Hogan claimed to be the only Hulk, which led the comic book character the Hulk to confront the wrestlers and prevent them from using the name Hulk.

In the image, it is clear to see that Hogan was flung through the roof, shattered all over the ring, and then slammed into the fan’s house some distance away. Consequently, ‘Hulk’ ends up winning the conflict after battering Hogan mercilessly.

Every lover of wrestling and comic books would find the comic intriguing, since it combined both universes and industries. In contrast to comics, Hogan continued to use the moniker Hulk throughout his wrestling career.
