MJF was rumored to sign with WWE sometime in 2024. This news came about after Tony Khan‘s promotion uploaded an official document for All In ’24 where Friedman wasn’t labeled. AEW didn’t defuse the situation and let the wrestling fans speculate about MJF’s possible WWE signing. However, the latest reports suggest this rumor can’t be farther from the truth.
MJF’s WWE joining rumors not substantiated
Recent reports by Haus of Wrestling suggest that the acclaimed ‘bidding wars of 2024’ between two competing wrestling promotions never happened. In fact, the reports reveal that Friedman could have been lying about the same.

Haus of Wrestling reported the employee sentiment from inside the Stamford-based company. According to one of their internal sources, it was nothing but a “False narrative” and the wrestler may be signed on to AEW until 2027. In fact, another source claimed, “I was told a while ago he is under a long-term deal, which is why they stopped pushing the 2024 stuff.”

Tony Khan can also be blamed here for not defusing the rumors before they got too big. Even though there are no direct callouts to him yet, if the case continues to grow, Khan may get caught in the crossfire.
The reason why people may drag the CEO into this is because of the ‘blunder’ his promotion made while announcing the talent list for AEW All In ’24.

When AEW took to Twitter to announce their return to London for their biggest-ever PPV in the following year, fans noticed something fishy about the post. After one fan comment, everybody started wondering why MJF is missing from the list.

The time when fans were hopeful MJF would end up in WWE
When fans noticed that Friedman wouldn’t be present for AEW All In ’24, everybody started speculating that this was because his contract with Tony Khan’s promotion would end earlier that year. Since the reigning AEW World Champion must not have the will to carry on in the same company, Tony Khan didn’t bother listing him as a feature in his future PPV.
However, as reports now suggest, this was never the case. In fact, some sources even claimed that MJF’s contract with AEW will run until 2027. So, despite being aware of this, the 41-year-old businessman kept quiet while the fans continuously speculated a bidding war between the two wrestling promotions.
