Rey Mysterio Opens Up on Serious Injury That’s Keeping Him Away From WWE

Everyone’s favorite luchador has been out injured but fans can take solace in knowing it’s not for much longer. Rey Mysterio has recently disclosed details about a significant injury that has temporarily sidelined him from WWE. The renowned wrestler is currently dealing with a knee injury, specifically a torn meniscus.

After the injury news broke, it was projected that Mysterio would be out of action for months. However, in a candid revelation, Mysterio himself sheds light on the challenges posed by this latest setback in his wrestling career and a timeline on his return.

Rey Mysterio is currently sidelined by a knee injury, a torn meniscus that is expected to keep him out of action for six to eight weeks. In a recent interview on K100 with Konnan and Disco Inferno, Mysterio confirmed the nature of his injury and emphasized his dedication to recovery with the help of a trainer.

He said, “Just wear and tear. This time, it was my right knee. I’ve never had any injuries on my right knee since 97 when I had my first surgery in WCW. The left knee kept on breaking down every other year, sometimes a little bit longer. Numerous ACL tears. The last big surgery I had on my left knee was in 2011.” Acknowledging the physical toll of professional wrestling, Mysterio described the injury as part of the wear and tear on his body.

He also added, “This time, you put in all the years, I’ve been favoring the right knee for the left one and finally, I tore the meniscus on my right knee. It’s six to eight weeks. I’m in week four.” Despite the setback, he remains committed to returning to full strength.

With a new three-year contract extension with WWE, Mysterio’s health is paramount for the company to leverage his skills effectively. Looking beyond the injury, Mysterio’s ongoing feud with Santos Escobar continues to unfold, promising further dramatic developments in their storyline.
