“I’d Like to Vie for…: Ronda Rousey, Who Did a Film With Arnold Schwarzenegger, Once Wanted a Major Marvel Superhero Role in the MCU

Ronda Rousey is known as The Baddest B*tch on the Planet and rightfully so because of her career in MMA and wrestling. Rousey has several records to her name from UFC and is currently signed under WWE. While she is known as a fierce idol for many women who step into the world of combat sports, Rousey was once interested in playing a special Marvel Superhero.

Back in 2015, during a Reddit AMA, WWE star Ronda Rousey revealed her interest in playing Captain Marvel. She then shared a fan-art of hers as Captain Marvel. Rousey then proceeded to upload a picture of the fan-arts together.

The 35-year-old wrote, “Since the reddit AMA I’ve received so many bada*s Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel edits! There were so many cool ones I couldn’t pick just one to share -here’s 1 series of 2”.

After sharing the posts, The Baddest Woman on the Planet makes sure to show her gratitude towards the artists and tags them in the post.

During the Reddit AMA, Ronda Rousey said, “A lot of the good [superheroes] have been taken but I’d like to vie for Miss Marvel!”. This was before Larson was selected as the lead character in the film. However, ‘Ms. Marvel’ is another Marvel superhero, although Rousey meant only Captain Marvel here.

Captain Marvel came out in 2019 and was the preceding movie to Avengers: End Game. The film received mixed reviews. It starred Brie Larson as the titular character and Samuel L. Jackson as a supporting cast. It told the origin story of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel.

Brie Larson took up the role and did complete justice to it. Captain Marvel was the first female stand-alone film in the MCU and was something the fans had been asking for a long time. Soon after Phase 3 of MCU got over, they released Black Widow under MCU’s phase 4, starring Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh.

Ronda Rousey has recently been in trouble with the law repeatedly. The latest SmackDown in Canada saw her being taken hostage after failing to adhere to her suspension.
