WWE Monday Night RAW 15/01/2024 Results

Opening segment: The show opened with Cody Rhodes coming out to address the fans. However, his monologue was cut short by Drew McIntyre. Unlike the typical McIntyre rant, he began by praising Rhodes. He talked about how the two grew up in the WWE and have witnessed the ups and downs of the business. He even talked about the time the two were tag team partners.

Moreover, McIntyre talked about how the two had to leave the company to understand things better. Now, with a better perspective on life, the two have thrived in the company. Unfortunately, this would be all the good words McIntyre had as he issued a warning for Rhodes. McIntyre claimed that the former AEW star would finish his story, but not before McIntyre finished his. This resulted in Rhodes asking one simple question. Who won the last time the two faced each other? Cue the mic drop.

While Priest tries to tell Truth about not being too loud about his merch sales, Truth hands him his cut off the profits. This turns Priest’s entire attitude around. However, before leaving, Priest tells Truth not to tag in during their tag team match.

Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh vs. Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano

Winner: Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano

The first match of WWE Monday Night RAW began with a typical babyfaces vs heels matchup. Judgment Day’s Mysterio and McDonagh faced DIY’s Ciampa and Gargano. The match started with the crowd cheering on Gargano. Both teams displayed great chemistry, with Mysterio and McDonagh putting in some great heel action. The match picked up speed near the end with a clothesline, superkick, Spanish fly, and much more. However, after Ciampa and Gargano hit the meet in the middle on McDonagh for the win.

Backstage segment: Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae are seen talking to Adam Pearce about 2024 being their year. Chelsea Green interrupts and Pearce sets a match, and they accept.

Chelsea Green and Piper Niven vs. Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae

Winner: Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae

The match began with Niven showing off her strength against Hartwell. Green and Niven show off their great tag team skills by keeping Hartwell isolated. Unfortunately, the match took a turn near the end. Despite hitting Hartwell with a bodyslam, LeRae was able to get the tag to hit an assisted lionsault on Green for the win.

Backstage segment: We see the Judgment Day at their HQ. Balor asks Priest where he was, and he claims he was talking to Pearce about McIntyre. McDonagh asks about their plans for Truth, and Priest defends Truth to everyone’s surprise. He claims that Truth was the only one earning for the team while showing them the money Truth gave him.

In-ring segment: Gunther makes his return to RAW after taking time off because of the birth of his child. Taking the mic, Gunther announces that he is the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion and that he will win the Royal Rumble and headline WrestleMania. He claimed that he lasted the longest last year despite coming in at #1. Once done talking about himself, he moved on to Ludwig Kaiser. He claimed that during his absence, Kaiser showed the side of himself that Gunther was waiting for. Xavier Woods interrupts and challenges Kaiser for a match.

Ludwig Kaiser vs. Xavier Woods

Winner: Ludwig Kaiser via disqualification

The match started even before an official came to the ring. Woods and Kaiser were vicious with each other. Taking revenge for what Kaiser did to Kofi Kingston last week, Woods did not slow down with his attacks. Kaiser, who had something to prove to Gunther, wasn’t going to go soft either. Woods and Kaiser exchanged strikes and took the match outside. The Imperium member tried to hit Woods with a chair but got hit instead, resulting in the match ending in disqualification.

Backstage segment: We get to see Bronson Reed looking dapper. He claims that there is a man who holds a championship but doesn’t realize it will belong to him.

Backstage segment: Byron Saxton tries to interview Woods only to see Woods attacked by Kaiser. Jey Uso breaks it up and stares Kaiser down.

Akira Tozawa vs. Ivar

Winner: Akira Tozawa

This short match came as a surprise as Akira Tozawa took on the massive Ivar. Despite having the upper hand from the start of the match, things changed after Maxxine distracted Ivar. Tozawa hit a sunset flip powerbomb for the win.

Post-match: Valhalla attacked Maxxine while Ivar knocked out Tozawa with a spin kick. Valhalla head-butted Maxxine, and Ivar hit a doomsault on Tozawa.

Backstage segment: The Alpha Academy checks on Maxxine and Tozawa, while Ivy Nile claims Valhalla will pay. Chad Gable says he will teach Ivar a lesson next week.

In-ring segment: Rhea Ripley comes out to address the crowd. She talks about how people like Nia Jax claim to rule the division, but it belongs to her and her alone. The monologue is cut short as Becky Lynch comes out. Lynch claims that the two of them have similar stories. However, Lynch claims that Ripley is better than her, and she wants to win the Royal Rumble to face Ripley. Ripley claims that she wants to see Lynch win as well and that they will meet at WrestleMania.

The Miz and R-Truth vs. Finn Balor and Damian Priest

Winner: Finn Balor and Damian Priest

The match started oddly, with Truth coming out with the Judgment Day rather than all by himself. Before the match started, Truth handed everyone their share of his merchandise profits. This made everyone except McDonagh happy. The match started with Truth and Balor, with Truth feeling bad for hitting Balor. Both teams were able to keep the momentum going with great tags. However, the match didn’t last long as Mysterio and JD got involved. Priest was able to hit South of Heaven on Truth while Balor pinned him. Priest looked distraught after doing so, but the team won.

Backstage segment: Jackie interviewed Jinder Mahal ahead of his match against Seth Rollins. Mahal claimed that he was focused on winning and beating Rollins tonight.

Video package: The video package of Shinsuke Nakamura continues, with the latest one being about winning the Royal Rumble.

Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark vs. Tegan Nox and Natalya

Winner: Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark

The match starts with Stark and Baszler keeping Natalya out of the match. Both women prevented Nox from getting a tag in. Things seemed to take a turn once Natalya did get the tag with a slew of offensive moves. Baszler was able to lock Natalya into her submission hold for the submission win.

Mahal came out with Indus Sher and Veer. Rollins and Mahal start strong. A bodyslam and a jumping knee led to Rollins exiting the ring. Priest came out with the MITB briefcase. Both men continued the match at a slow pace, ensuring they made the best of the match with the title on the line. Priest sits by ringside while Rollins hits a Senton, followed by a moonsault on Mahal.

Rollins seemed to hurt his knee after that move, making him slower in the ring. Sher saved Mahal from a pinfall and ate a crossbody by Rollins. While Priest looked for his chance to cash in, Drew McIntyre came out from the audience to stop Priest. The two began to wrestle outside while Mahal tried to take advantage. Despite eating a blow, Rollins was able to kick out from a Khallas and pinned Mahal for the win.

One take at a time

My passion for professional wrestling began when I saw Kane ripping the Hell in a Cell door off in the iconic 1997 match. I used to enjoy watching WWE re-runs at 5 in the evening when I got home from school. It was sort of a ritual for me.
