Hardcore wrestling fans adore their favorite stars in the game. A majority of young girls look up to female wrestlers, such as Becky Lynch, for their fearless attitude. But behind the curtains, even these strong women have had their difficult moments. Recently, Big Time Becks opened up about being bullied during her childhood. But, the WWE Superstar explained how these painful experiences fueled her into becoming a top wrestler in WWE.
Becky Lynch opens up about her childhood trauma
Becky Lynch did not look too comfortable during her time at The Tommy Tierney Show on 26, March 2023. The host threw in an unpleasant question without prior warning about her childhood experiences. However, the 36-year-old composed herself and spoke about her younger days. She said “Oh yeah. I was because I was a chubby kid and so I was teased a lot. And bullied a fair amount.”

‘The Man’ continued how this harsh experience affected her deeply, but she did not let that negative energy consume her. Instead, ‘The Man’ worked hard to get healthy and accomplished her dream of being a “badass” wrestler in the WWE.

Lynch adds, “And I think as well there’s that thing about wrestling, right, where you can be whoever you want to be. Like, you have that chance to rewrite history a little bit in a way. Or be the person that you want to be.” Indeed Lynch rose from this traumatic childhood experience to become one of the most successful WWE stars of all time. She made history alongside Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey when they became the first women to headline WrestleMania in 2019.
The Irish Lass Kicker continues to be a top star in the company and has established herself as the stalwart of the Women’s division. Still, Lynch’s childhood trauma is very much in line with the face of WWE, John Cena’s painful past.
John Cena refused to bend to the will of bullies
Like Becky Lynch, even John Cena had to face bullying as a child, for his unique taste in music. The ‘Leader of Cenation’ refused to give up on his love for Hip-hop as a child. In a recent interview, Cena expressed ‘I got bullied for listening to hip-hop music growing up in West Newbury Massachusetts.”
