Dominik Mysterio is proving to be quite a Champion without any assistance from The Judgment Day. Last week he successfully defended his NXT North American Championship against Dragon Lee on RAW. Fans were actually cheering when Mysterio delivered a frog splash. But as fans have slowly started accepting Mysterio, his father Rey Mysterio wants to put him in place because of his recent comments.

Dominik Mysterio is known for trash-talking but this time he has landed himself in deep trouble.

‘Dirty’ Dom started his career in the WWE with his legendary father Rey Mysterio in 2019 as part of the tag team The Mysterios. The duo even won the WWE Tag Team Championships in 2020 by beating Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode. This also made them the first father-and-son tag team Champions in WWE history.

Their bond seemed impenetrable until ‘Dirty’ Dom chose another family, The Judgment Day, over his real one. He even brutally clotheslined his father Rey Mysterio, putting out a clear message that he was leaving the Mysterio family for good. Post that both of them were involved in two matches with Rey Mysterio emerging victorious on both occasions.

On his appearance on WWE’s The Bump almost a month ago, ‘Dirty’ Dom called his father “a deadbeat”. He also went on to insult Rey Mysterio by saying that it is a sad thing that he won the United States Championship just to take the attention away from his son.

Rey Mysterio appeared on the same show yesterday and was quite furious with his son’s comments. He aggressively put it out there that his son needed to be spanked like a stubborn kid. Rey Mysterio said, “I was actually reading one of Dom’s comments about how sad it was for me to try and win a title when he has just become North American Champion. And I’ll tell you what, if I see him, I’ll slap him right in the face for saying that because it’s not true, I don’t do that. Opportunity was given and I took advantage of it just like he did”.

But not just a tight slap, Rey Mysterio also wants to show him who the real boss is in the Mysterio family.

Rey Mysterio wants to fight against ‘Dirty’ Dom with both their Championships on the line

Rey Mysterio and ‘Dirty’ Dom are already the only father-son duo to both have a Championship title at the same time. Thus if they fight for their titles, they will also be the first father-son duo to defend their respective titles against each other.

Papa Mysterio put out an open challenge to his son for his NXT North American Championship title defense. Rey Mysterio said, “You know but at the end of the day if we come to bump shoulders again and he is still champion and I’m still champion, I would not mind putting this title against his title on the line”.
