Instead of hating modern wrestling, Austin understood the change in dynamics and explained how these changes are required. However, he spoke on the pros and cons of both eras and painted a clear picture of differences while staying on the neutral side of the debate.

The Attitude era is one of the most significant time periods in wrestling. It started and changed the entire game for WWE, from defeating WCW in the Monday Night Ratings War to turning WWE into an international sensation.

During his interview with Forbes, Austin praised modern-day wrestling and said, “The performance level has sped up so much, and the guys and gals are doing so much incredible stuff. It’s absolutely unbelievable.” He further claimed, “These days, even though if I look at Attitude Era stuff, I look like I’m in slow motion watching what these superstars today are doing with better cameras and just better athletes.”

However, Austin believed that the superstars in the current era do much more than required, and this acts as a double-edged sword. He said, “I think there’s too much being done. It’s kind of like a double-edged sword.”

However, he also praised the modern-era superstars. The 58-year-old said, “I love the product, I love reality based storylines and I think the men and women that are participating in it today are much better athletes.”

The athletes now are much fitter and more athletic, than their peers 30 years ago. Wrestling has changed a lot and will change further down the line. However, each era had its own aura, with the Attitude Era being a little too special.
