The Undertaker has been a part of some of the memorable storylines in WWE. Whether it was the feud with his kayfabe brother Kane or his time as a cult leader with the Ministry of Darkness, Taker has always left an impression on the viewers with his antics and other immersive elements he brought to the table. One of his most peculiar angles involved kidnapping a WWE personality.

Of course, abduction angles were not new to WWE or The Undertaker. The ‘Deadman’ had infamously kidnapped Stephanie McMahon as part of a storyline in 1999.
This time the angle involved the then SmackDown General Manager and WWE Hall of Famer Theodore Long, aka Teddy Long.
Teddy Long shared his experience of working with The Undertaker
Interestingly enough, Teddy Long and The Undertaker worked together during their time at WCW. Long managed Taker when the ‘Deadman’ used to wrestle as “Mean” Maik Callous.
Taker and Teddy Long crossed paths again when the two were part of the SmackDown brand. In 2009, Long screwed the Undertaker during a World title match against CM Punk in a rehash of the infamous ‘Montreal Screwjob’. This led to one of the notorious segments in WWE.
After leaving the arena on an episode of SmackDown following his actions, Long stepped inside a limousine. To his horror, he found the Deadman in the driver’s seat. Taker then drove off, kidnapping the SmackDown GM.
Recalling the angle on an episode of Rewind Recap Relive on YouTube, Teddy Long talked about working with The Undertaker in that storyline.
He said, “I managed him in WCW, and then I had the chance when I went to go to work for Vince in the WWE meeting him. I was in the biggest storyline of the century with him kidnapping me and all that stuff. So being able to be right there with him and working with him and like I said, that was one of the biggest angles.”

Furthermore, Long added it was an honor for him to work with Taker and McMahon. He commented, “I was right there with Vince and everybody because Vince basically wrote most of that. So you know what an honor to be able to pull that off and to be working with those two guys.”
Teddy Long, getting involved in a storyline with one of the legends of the business, made for an exciting angle all those years ago.

Since then, WWE has inducted both performers into the Hall of Fame. Long got into the Hall of Fame in 2017 and Taker joined him five years later in 2022. During his time with WWE, Long became famous for his role as the SmackDown GM. He also gained popularity, as he would often book heels in a match against the Undertaker.
