When a WWE fan hears a sinister knell, eerie music, with a mystifying dark smoke and fireworks, they know it’s none other than the ‘Deadman’! Among all the entrances WWE has presented, The Undertaker’s ingress is the most spectacular. For over 30 years, it has thrilled every cell of a fan and petrified the hearts of all opponents.

However, there was a particular incident in which ‘The Phenom’ almost ‘burnt’ to ash during the entrance. The 2010 Elimination Chamber has been one of the most noted botches of WWE. The Undertaker caught fire because of a technical mishap and burned himself a little while doing the most famous arrival. More shockingly, he went on with the match.

The ‘Deadman’ caught on fire and suffered second and third-degree burns and a chest burn while he was walking to the ring. He immediately threw off his stark black overcoat and went along with the match as if nothing happened. During the match, Taker tried to deal with the burns by pouring water on him. His reluctance to back off from the match stopped the medical team from approaching.

However, after the fight, in which he dropped the World Heavyweight Championship, he was rushed to hospital and thankfully ended up okay at last. The Undertaker’s opponents were paJohn Morrison, Rey Mysterio, CM Punk, R-Truth, and Chris Jericho. Additionally, it took two months to recover from the injuries and later came back to WrestleMania 26.

Taker Talking about The Scary Incident With Steve Austin

The Undertaker seldom spoke about things in the old days. However, ever since his retirement in 2020, Taker began to open up about various experiences in his illustrious career.

Speaking on the WWE Network Exclusive show, ‘Broken Skull Sessions’ with ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, ‘The Phenom’ said, “Luckily, I had the presence of mind to know that I had to move forward. When I saw something other than fire, I could see that both my right sleeve and hat are on fire. I’m trying to get all that off and somehow stay in character.”

Further, the Pyrotechnician was reasonably fired after the incident. Talking about it, Taker said, “I’m usually a very forgiving and understanding person. But a couple of weeks prior [to this incident], I had a conversation with the pyro-guy and told him, ‘Look, the pyro burst is too close. I’m starting to feel it. I said, Let’s back them out.’”

Moreover, the professionalism The Undertaker showed there was widely admired by many, including his then opponent Chris Jericho. The ‘Deadman’ will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 1st.
