When talking about pro wrestling greats it is hard to leave out The Undertaker. The Phenom performed at the top of WWE for 30 years and will be part of any discussion when it comes to the greatest wrestlers of all time. However, a few years back Taker found his name on a strange list altogether. In 2016, Forbes released Wikipedia’s 100 Most Controversial People.

The list featured the likes of former U. S President George W. Bush, Adolf Hitler, and Michael Jackson among others. Surprisingly, the list also included The Undertaker and his fabled WWE ally Glenn Jacobs aka Kane in the top 10.

The Undertaker ahead of Beyonce and Eminem in “most controversial” list

The Undertaker and Kane have been part of some of the most memorable storylines in WWE history. The Brothers of destruction have teamed up and fought against each other throughout their storied careers. The storyline brothers often brought out the best in each other due to their supernatural gimmicks and will go down as the most iconic pro wrestling characters.

Moreover, during their careers, fans admired them for their endurance and in-ring work. Even after their retirements, the fans have warmed up to both legends and showered their love on them. Hence it was a surprise when The Undertaker and the Big Red Machine Kane featured really high in Forbes’ Wikipedia’s 100 Most Controversial People list in 2016.

The list included names from pop culture, politics, and even religion throughout the years. Among sports personalities in the top 10, The Undertaker and Kane are present along with another surprise name, the tennis gentleman and icon Roger Federer. The list starts off with former U. S President George W. Bush on top. Bush was ahead of another former White House leader Barack Obama who was number fourth. The Undertaker featured on the list at number seven while Kane was ahead of Beyonce at number 9.

The Undertaker has had his controversial moments in his WWE tenure. His rivalry with CM Punk which used Taker’s former manager Paul Bearer’s death in the storyline turned some heads. Also, he has made comments about the current WWE stars being “soft” which stirred the pot. Kane has his fair share of controversial angles in WWE. The Devil’s Favorite Demon was infamously involved in the much-criticized Katie Vick angle 20 years ago.

Still, to see two wrestlers on a list of the most controversial people is a head-scratcher. The Undertaker and Kane are among the most beloved WWE stars of all time and their inclusion on this list is confusing and baffling even six years later.
