The world of pro wrestling is quite familiar with the exceptional legend of The Undertaker. He is one of the top WWE superstars thanks to his prowess in the ring, his ability to deliver great promos, and his cult status among the WWE fandom. However, the audience had attacked him for his cruelty and evilness before he became a renowned figure in the world of pro wrestling.

Taker provided some of the most thrilling experiences from his life in the most recent edition of WWE Legends Biography. In addition, he described the unexpected incident in South Africa when a crowd got irrational and began attacking him.

In case if you are not aware, Taker mentioned in his biography that he once went to the Sportatorium in Dallas, where he met Fritz Von Erich and made a reservation with Percy Pringle.

Meanwhile, The Phenom met South African wrestler Steve Simpson, who eventually took Calaway home for four months. Taker’s wrestling attracted Simpson’s attention. Although the experience in South Africa proved to be incredibly helpful, the people there were always enraged with Taker and had assaulted him on multiple occasions.

Why was The Undertaker attacked by the crowd?

On the experience he had in South Africa, Taker stated, “Anytime a foreigner came in, the American or whoever the English came in. They were always be the bad guys. So they gave me this chain and said just take this chain with you. So my first night out I’m working against Tiger Singh — I hit him with the chain, I burst him open he goes flat, right.”

Tiger Singh was there one of the top wrestlers during that time. Notably, he is also one of the most notable wrestlers from India and has wrestled for over 4 decades. Consequently, the crowd didn’t really appreciate Taker since he was a heel the same as in his early years.

Moreover, he added, “Then the crowd they completely circle up the ring. I’m getting hit with bottles, rocks, and chairs. You name it, I’m getting hit with that. They were still trying to riot, but I made it out. It was the wild wild west.”

He said that, at 22, he was regularly subjected to chairs, rocks, and bottles. However, this experience allowed him to develop his understanding of the wrestling business.

After that experience, The Undertaker became one of the biggest superstars of the sport. Notably, his attempt to be evil turned out to be one of his wrestling career’s major highlights.
