It’s no secret that ex-WWE chairperson Vince McMahon liked to interfere with various storylines and characters to stamp his own authority on them. While the results of such meddling vary, former WWE writer Road Dogg recently revealed how McMahon’s interference ruined Bray Wyatt’s character.

While WWE has a talented team of writers and creative, Vince McMahon always had a hand in the final product that was put by the WWE.

Recently, WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg said that The Boss usually let the writers get on with their job, unless he found something turning successful. Then he wanted to “play with it as well.

Road Dogg reveals how Vince McMahon ruined Bray Wyatt

Speaking on Konnan’s “Keepin’ It 100” podcast, Road Dogg said that unnecessary interference by Vince McMahon damaged an intriguing character like Wyatt.

And even though the writers didn’t like it, they couldn’t do much about it either.

“I’ll probably get some heat for saying this, but I just feel like sometimes, Vince lets the writers do their thing, it kind of gets successful, and then he feels like he wants to play with it too. Then you just go like, Okay, well, let’s stay with this because we don’t want to just say this sucks, we want to quit or whatever, so let’s try to stay with this. Next thing, you know, you’re doing some of the crap he was doing later in his (Bray Wyatt’s) tenure.”, he said while speaking on the podcast.

This could answer the question of why Wyatt’s character was going nowhere towards the end of his tenure in WWE. The fans and experts were baffled by the creative direction for ‘The Fiend’ and his subsequent departure from the company.

McMahon had a history of interfering with Creative

Vince McMahon was known for running a tight ship behind the scenes in WWE.

There are several reports of Mr. McMahon interfering with writers and changing the creative direction of certain wrestlers. Over the years, wrestlers have said how he would upend their plans and give them an entirely new direction.

Bray Wyatt’s example is a recent and a stark one. Fans were in awe of Wyatt since day one. Whether it was the cult leader Wyatt, the goofy Firefly Fun House Wyatt or the terrifying ‘Fiend’, Bray had the crowd eating from his hands. However, fans and experts were baffled by the creative direction for ‘The Fiend’ in the latter stages of his run.

With McMahon now retired and Triple H in charge, a Bray Wyatt return cannot be ruled out. Recently, many wrestlers released by WWE have returned. Will Wyatt return to the WWE ring under the new regime and have the creative freedom he craves? That remains to be seen.
