26-Year-Old Spanish NXT Prospect Makes SmackDown Debut Against Rey Mysterio’s Heir in an Entertaining Match

Friday Night SmackDown started with a bang with Bayley taking Asuka into Damage CTRL. Bayley presented Asuka a Damage CTRL tee, thus officially making her a member of the villainous faction. But what got fans more excited was the debut of a masked luchador from the NXT brand.

This gifted wrestler squared off with Dragon Lee and fans definitely got their money’s worth.

Dragon Lee has been making quite a name for himself on SmackDown. Prior to his match, Dragon Lee was in talks with SmackDown GM Nick Aldis for a worthy opponent. And Aldis didn’t let him down as he brought over NXT’s star athlete, Axiom to face him on SmackDown.

Both the masked luchadors put on stellar performances with their high-flying maneuvers which amazed the fans at the Ford Center in Indiana. Axiom looks up to Rey Mysterio just like Dragon Lee does and they both wanted to prove a point to their superhero.

In spite of putting up a tough fight, Dragon Lee eventually delivered a running knee and won the match. But as Axiom exited the ring, he gave Lee an air fist bump. This showed that he still had respect for his fellow luchador in spite of suffering a loss on his debut.

But talking about their idol, there was a positive health update about Rey Mysterio after the vicious assault that happened last week on SmackDown.

Rey Mysterio just had a successful knee surgery

Last week on SmackDown, Santos Escobar brutally assaulted Rey Mysterio after he confronted him for not coming to Carlito’s aid. He viciously attacked Mysterio’s leg by jamming it with the steel stairs. Fans were really worried for Mysterio post the attack.

On account of this, Mysterio had to undergo a knee surgery. But on SmackDown it was revealed that the knee surgery was a success. Mysterio also tweeted from the hospital, “Knee surgery was successful. Now payback @escobarwwe is on the horizon!”

Thus sending out a warning message to Santos Escobar. But in the meantime, Carlito will be trying to teach a lesson or two to Escobar on behalf of Mysterio at Survivor Series. But what are thoughts on Axiom making a debut on SmackDown?
