Hulk Hogan gained fame as a WWE star and a pop culture icon in the 1980s. He was one of the most well-known faces when it came to pro wrestling and his popularity has stood the test of time. Even after he stopped being an active performer, his name still carried a lot of weight and he maintained a presence on TV. In fact, he had his own reality show titled Hogan Knows Best, which showcased the life of the Hogan family and their ups and downs.

Along with Hogan, the show also included his children Nick and Brooke Hogan, as the cameras followed their daily life activities. In one of the episodes, the show had two-time WWE tag team champion and son of the legendary British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith Jr. shows up as a date for Brooke Hogan.

In an interview, Smith Jr. detailed how it his appearance on the show came about and what happened afterward.

Smith Jr. dated the daughter of Hulk Hogan on the show

Hulk Hogan starred in his own TV series on VH1, called Hogan Knows Best, where viewers got to follow the days of Hogan and his family on screen. The TV series began in 2005 and lasted for four seasons. It included his son Nick Hogan, daughter Brooke Hogan and ex-wife Linda Hogan.

The show often focused on the Hulkster, looking to manage his children’s careers and help them out when needed. During one episode, pro wrestler Davey Boy Smith Jr. real name Harry Smith made an appearance on the show as a date for Hogan’s daughter Brooke. In an interview with Hannibal TV in 2017, Smith revealed how his cameo on the reality show came about.

He said Hogan was looking for a wrestler to come on his show to be his daughter’s date on an episode. Smith said although WWE star The Miz had been on the show before, John Laurinaitis recommended Smith’s name. He revealed, It was actually John Laurinaitis[…] he recommended me to be on the show because I hadn’t debuted on TV so he might have thought of well this might be a good publicity for Harry, we haven’t debuted him yet”

The former tag team champion also said the experience was fun, but nothing actually materialized between Brooke and him. He continued, “It was fun; I went down in Miami for a couple of days. And then straight after that I went to do some house shows and nothing really ever came out of it. But it was it was fun. It was an experience. It gave me a little notoriety. Brooke and I just didn’t hit.”

Smith made his WWE in 2007 as DH Smith but returned to the developmental FCW a year later. In 2009, he made his debut on WWE ECW and aligned himself with Tyson Kidd and Natalya. The trio formed a modern-day version of The Hart Foundation. The team won the tag team titles on two occasions before their split. WWE then released from his contract in 2011.

Since then he has wrestled on the independent circuit and spent time in NJPW as well. Currently, he is part of the NWA where he holds the Tag Team titles with Doug Williams.
