2020 has brought out the strangest side of everything. To co-operate with the audience-less environment of the sports-entertainment world, WWE has introduced the new genre of ‘cinematic matches.’ With different locations, theatrics, and some quality background music, WWE has revolutionized professional wrestling.

As the year ends, we look back at some of the best cinematic matches. From the newbies of NXT to legends like The Undertaker, cinematic matches featured everyone.

While talking about the cinematic matches, we must talk about The Fiend. Reports suggest he was the one who envisioned it with the writers. However, the very first cinematic match was with none other than the Undertaker.

The Undertaker faced AJ Styles in a Boneyard Match at WrestleMania this year. He brought back his American Badass persona and defeated Styles.

However, The Fiend also had his cinematic share of John Cena at WrestleMania and Braun Strowman at Extreme Rules Swamp Fight. He won both times and obliterated his opponents.

WWE Roster had its fun with the cinematic matches

The entire WWE roster got a fun take at the matches at Money in the Bank 2020. The contenders in the match competed inside the WWE headquarters. The men’s match featured Vince McMahon as well.

However, WWE will not continue these types of matches anymore. These matches will lose their significance when the live audience comes back. It’s hard to conduct the cinematic matches for live audiences as they pay to see live matches.

However, cinematic matches will always define the pandemic era. It also could give rise to something more amazing in the future. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
