The second match of the night on the Day 1 Edition of WWE RAW ended with a gasp rather than cheers. With fan favorites Jey Uso and Kofi Kingston taking on Imperium, no one could have expected the match to be halted within minutes of its start.

This came as a big shock to the audience at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. Uso never even got a chance in the match.

The second match of the night was between Kofi Kingston, Jey Uso, and Imperium. With Gunther out due to the birth of his son, Ludwig Kaiser, and Giovanni Vinci were responsible for keeping the name of Imperium up. Despite starting off strong in the match, a single move would result in the match ending abruptly.

The match started out strong, with Kaiser and Vinci holding the offensive against Kingston. However, things took a drastic turn when the referee threw up the dreaded ‘X’ sign mid-match. In the pro wrestling world, the ‘X’ means a wrestler is injured and needs immediate attention. This led to the match coming to a halt as the ring-side doctor checked on Vinci.

Looking closely at the replay, you can see Vinci’s head hitting the mat after taking a mid-air dropkick from Kingston. This could be the reason for the injury. WWE will officially announce any updates on Vinci after medical professionals tend to him backstage.

The fans were shocked, and so were Kingston and Jey. While the officials took Vinci backstage, the two winners kept asking the referee what had happened. According to eagle-eyed fans, the dropkick Kingston placed on Vinci landed on his face. This disoriented him, leading him to land on his head. Many claim that it will be ruled out as a concussion. Nevertheless, the need for speculation is over as the superstar in question gave an update about the injury he incurred.

Vinci gives an update about his condition

After the match had ended and the two shocked winners went backstage, within a few hours, Vinci gave an update. Taking to social media, Vinci posted, “Sto bene. Grazie mille 🙏🏼.” This translated to he was fine and he also thanked all those who were worried about what had happened.

While the injury may not have been bad, it was scary to see on the first episode of Monday Night RAW. While the staff looked at Vinci, there was a palpable tension in the air within the arena. Thankful there was nothing to worry about, and Vinci will be back in action soon.

One take at a time

My passion for professional wrestling began when I saw Kane ripping the Hell in a Cell door off in the iconic 1997 match. I used to enjoy watching WWE re-runs at 5 in the evening when I got home from school. It was sort of a ritual for me.
