Since Cena came to the WWE, he has been the face of the company and a franchise superstar. Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is also a 16-time World Champion in his forty-year career in pro wrestling.

‘The Cenation Leader’ is the only WWE superstar who has tied the record of being a 16-time World Champion. Well, Cena is very close to beating Ric Flair to become a 17-time World Champion.

John Felix Anthony Cena was born on April 23, 1977, and raised in West Newbury, Massachusetts, US. However, his blood isn’t from the United States. He is the son of Carol Frances (Lupien) and John Joseph Cena.

The Peacemaker star’s father is of Italian descent, while his mother, Carol Frances, is of English ancestry and half French-Canadian origin. So, to summarize, ‘The Champ’ John Cena, belongs to mixed Italian-American ethnicity.

Cena’s maternal grandfather, Tony Lupien, was a professional baseball player. Indeed, having a career in sports entertainment was in the bloodline of ‘The Champ’ for ages. A fun fact, the word Cena means “dinner” or “supper” in Italian.

 

Well, ‘The Leader of Cenation’ is not the only child of Sr. Cena and Carol Frances. The former WWE Champion is the second child of his parents and has four brothers – Matt, Steve, Sean, and Dan.

The early life of the former WWE Champion aka the Peacemaker star

As a child, the 16-time WWE World Champion attended the Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Massachusetts. After high school, Cena shifted to a boarding school called Cushing Academy.

 

‘The Champ’ successfully graduated from Cushing Academy with flying colors and went to Springfield College to get a degree in exercise physiology. At Springfield College, John Cena was the MVP and captain with an NCAA Division III All-American status on the college football team.

He used to wear a number 54 jersey in college, which was later seen in WWE programming on his merchandise. In 1998, Cena graduated with a degree in exercise physiology and human anatomy and moved to California to pursue a career in bodybuilding.

John Cena initially worked as a driver for a limousine company until he started training to become a professional wrestler in 1999. When he came to WWE in 2002, there was no stopping the hustler, Cena. Now he is a 16-time WWE World Champion and a lead in DC’s Peacemaker series.
