It is no secret that NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal loves pro wrestling. One of the strongest athletes of his time, Shaq has even got some in-ring action over the years with WWE and AEW. He is also good friends with a few pro wrestlers.

In fact, in 2008 Diesel once paid a visit to WWE superstars backstage with this family.

During the visit, he met a lot of notable names and clicked photos with them. One of the pictures that stands out from this meeting is of WWE legend Rey Mysterio posing with Shaq’s sons, while the NBA legend’s large figure stands tall behind them.

A lifelong wrestling fan, Shaquille O’Neal, has often made appearances alongside wrestlers and even participated in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32. Even before that, the four-time NBA Champion showed his love for the sport on many occasions.

In 2008, he met several WWE stars backstage at the Cyber Sunday event. He brought his sons with him and posed for photos with wrestlers like Mark Henry, MVP, and Randy Orton, among others.

The Big Shamrock even got the demonic Kane to click a photo with him. One of the standout photos from that visit is Rey Mysterio posing alongside Shaq’s sons with the NBA icon looming large behind them.

In this photo, we can see that Shaq’s sons are as nearly as tall as the 5′ 6″ Mysterio. With the 7’1″ Shaquille O’Neal also in the photo, Mysterio looks like he’s one of his sons!

The 48-year-old Rey Mysterio has stood across some of the largest men in pro wrestling, but this picture really amplifies the staggering size difference between him and O’Neal.

Shaquille O’Neal is no stranger to interaction with WWE stars. He featured alongside John Cena on NBA on TNT in 2021.

Despite getting into in-ring action only a few times in WWE, John Cena said that the NBA icon could still be something in WWE, subtly inviting him to join the promotion following his brief stint with AEW.
