WWE Legend John Cena Follows 45-Year-Old Colleague’s Footsteps to Voice Villainous Character in New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Film

John Cena is recently revealed as the cast member of one of the most popular franchises in the film industry. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle franchise is back with another movie for the fans. Fans got a sneak peek of the CG-animated movie at the 2023 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on March 4, 2023, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.

The upcoming American computer-animated superhero film will hit theaters on August 4 of this year courtesy of Paramount Pictures.

The 16-time World Champion will feature in the new TMNT movie. Seth Rogen, the producer of the upcoming movie, chose The Franchise Player as one of the cast members for the movie. He will voice the villainous character, Rocksteady.

Cena will be the second WWE star to voice this character in the TMNT franchise following in the footsteps of former WWE Champion Sheamus. The Celtic Warrior voiced this character in the Out of the Shadow version of the TMNT franchise back in 2016.

Other popular names from the cast crew include Nicolas Cantu as the voice of Leonardo, Micah Abbey who voices the role of Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, and Brady Noon as the voice of Raphael. In addition, the world-renowned actor, filmmaker, martial artist, and stuntman, Jackie Chan, voiced the character, Splinter.

A highlight of Cena’s acting career

The Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect Soldier set foot in the world of Hollywood in 2006. It was his debut movie; The Marine produced by WWE films that got his acting career started. WWE films also produced his next two movies, called 12 Rounds and Legendary.

In the following years, he appeared in multiple comedy movies, like Fred: The Movie, Trainwreck, Sisters, and a cameo role in Daddy’s Home. In 2017, he appeared in a war film called The Wall. He also starred in Surf Up 2: WaveMania and Ferdinand animated movies, to which he lent his voice. In the same year, he reappeared in the sequel of Daddy’s Home. In the next year, he starred in two movies called Blockers (comedy) and Bumblebee of the Transformers franchise.

In 2019, the WWE wrestler-turned-actor starred in the ninth installment of the Fast and Furious Franchise as Dominic Toretto’s younger brother, Jakob Torretto. In 2021, he appeared in the movie in the DC’s The Suicide Squad as the character Peacemaker, which was a blockbuster movie.
