Veteran producer Kevin Dunn isn’t irreplaceable in the company anymore. The utterly talented WWE executive producer had been a massive presence in WWE’s creative bookings for ages. He has etched his place in WWE folklore by producing several stellar moments over the years from behind the screen. But it won’t be the case anymore as Vince McMahon’s former close associate recently bid goodbye to the promotion.

And it seems that within weeks, WWE got their alternative right to not compromise the integrity and quality of the product.

Kevin Dunn’s impending absence from the company became clear last month. He announced that he’s eying a departure during Christmas week after a staggering three decades stint.

WWE immediately dished out a press release on January 9, announcing the hiring of Lee Fitting as Head of Media & Production. In the official statement, WWE President Nick Khan wrote:

“Lee is a phenomenal leader and executive known for work that generates both critical acclaim and mass appeal.

”Lee will be a tremendous addition to our stellar media and production team and play a key role in helping catapult WWE’s growth”

Fitting served excellence in ESPN for a decade years before getting released in August 2023. His role there was of Senior Vice President of Production who promised to supervise production quality for a series of games, including Monday Night Football, College GameDay, the College Football Playoff, and a few more.

We are looking toward Fitting bringing his rich experience to enrich his WWE tenure.

However, WWE finalized the ESPN Alum as the ideal replacement for Dunn after a lot of back and forth.

Lee Fitting wasn’t originally planned for the new role

Ahead of the first WWE RAW of the year, an internal talent meeting was called by WWE President Nick Khan to address Kevin Dunn’s absence. The meeting resulted in a fruitful talk regarding finding a proper substitution.

As the report suggested, during the meeting, Khan spoke highly of Dunn as he “led with strength” throughout his time. He also vowed that the company would follow his policy going forward.

Keeping the same pace despite the fall of an unparalleled talent was indeed challenging and there had to be many alterations in the plan. WWE initially planned to pitch Chris Kaiser for the WWE Executive Vice President of Television role in the immediate wake of Dunn’s retirement. The decision made sense as Kaiser has been a marquee figure behind the scenes for nearly a decade.

However, this plan was seemingly scrapped and Fitting came to the scene instead. We need to see what Lee Fitting has in store for the Stanford-based company down the line.
