Dominik Mysterio has successfully managed to retain his NXT North American championship on the recent episode of RAW. The Toyota Arena in Ontario, California, also served as a venue for Dom Dom to avenge a past humiliation and get even with one of his arch-rivals.

By virtue of the win, Dirty Dom also scripted history on RAW.

With his win, the 26-year-old proved his father who is also one of his harshest critics wrong. This was also the second time that Dominik Mysterio defended his NXT belt on RAW. He also became the first wrestler to defend a NXT Championship more than once on the red brand.

His earlier title defense was against Sami Zayn on July 24. According to X user Wrestling Stats & Info, this was also the sixth time an NXT title was defended on RAW.

Whether he lacks the super athletic moves of his father or not, Dominik Mysterio has been able to make a name for himself, stepping away from his father’s shadow. With it, Dirty Dom has also been able to make a strong case for himself- of being the top heel in the business.

While Dominik Mysterio doesn’t have an imposing physique or a look that’ll send down shivers his opponent’s spine, he does generate a lot of heat. It is evident every week, every time he has a microphone in his hand.

One of the measurement of being a heel is getting the boos from the spectators. If that is a primary yardstick to go by, DOminik Mysterio by far is the most successful among the current lot. While Austin Theory, another popular heel, received chants of an a**h*le, remember that it was Dwayne Johnson who conducted that play.

In Dom Dom’s case, he doesn’t need an extra cast of a reputed superstar to aide him. It’s just him and him alone. While this might worry a lot of others, Mysterio has admitted feeling happy with his current relationship with the fans.

Not just that, even Seth Rollins spoke highly of Mysterio earlier this year. So, is he the best heel in the business? A lot of indicators does point to that direction.
