“You’re My Favorite”: Stephanie McMahon Said This to Top AEW Star Before Releasing Him Months Later

Swerve Strickland competed in WWE as Isaiah “Swerve” Scott and was a member of the tag team Hit Row. Furthermore, the tag team’s future in NXT seemed promising. Consequently, they were promoted to SmackDown’s main roster. While speaking with Chris Jericho recently, Strickland recalled his WWE days when Stephanie McMahon called him her favorite heel.

However, after being promoted to WWE SmackDown, he had a short tenure before being released from the WWE roster. Later, he was signed by AEW.

However, Stephanie McMahon referred to him as her favorite heel just before WWE released him. On the podcast, the AEW star stated, “Next match, me and Jonah (Bronson Reed) went two segments, 12 minutes, beat the cr*p out of each other, and Shawn (Michaels) was like, ‘That’s what I like, that’s what I want to see. Now you’re in there.”

“Then we did the TakeOver: Stand and Deliver with the Gauntlet match. I started first, went 25 minutes, lasted till the end with me and Jonah, put Jonah over.”

“Stephanie McMahon comes to the back and says, ‘You’re my favorite heel on the show.’ Like, literally, she said I’m her favorite. ‘Well, Trips (Triple H), you hear that?

In addition, Strickland earlier mentioned that he believes HHH likes him and admires his talent and abilities. However, he does not believe he ever completely bought in and invested.

In recent years, there has been much talk regarding Vince’s retirement and who would replace him in the pro wrestling business.  Stephanie McMahon, WWE’s Chief Brand Officer, recently revealed her father’s plans to retire from WWE.

In a conversation with Mike Piellucci of D Magazine, Stephanie said, “He [Vince McMahon] has said, I think, publicly, that he will ‘die in the chair. We’ll see. Who knows? Life is long and unpredictable, but somehow, I don’t see him retiring anytime soon.”

Moreover, following cardiac arrest, Triple H is also out of WWE. Consequently, it does not appear like McMahon will retire anytime soon. However, if Vince departs, there are several prospective candidates, including Stephanie McMahon.
