John Cena is known as a man of many talents. The 16-time WWE World Champion is also known for his Hollywood career and his freestyle rapping skills that fans witnessed during his early WWE days. Apart from this, the star is also known for pursuing bodybuilding before he landed in the pro wrestling ring. However, the star had another dream that he wished to fulfill but was unable to. In a recent interview with Up & Adam’s Show, the Leader of Cenation talked about his lesser-known football career.

Was John Cena set to join the NFL?

On the latest episode of Up & Adam’s Show, the host, Kay Adams told the 46-year-old star that she was hard-pressed to think about the fact that Cena never considered an NFL career. To this, Cena explained his case. While the star said that he had found a “home in the offensive line” he was not able to keep up with the fast pace of the game. He stated, “Football is such a fast game and game of skill and fluency. It’s not like you could play one position you have to play them all and I was very humble.”

While Cena played for the Springfield football team on the offensive line along with freestyle rapping in his dorm, the star had pursued a Bachelor’s in exercise physiology from the college. He enrolled in the course back in 1998 and it was all for his love of pumping iron. The star then passed with flying colors and had his eyes on his next target.

The star then decided to pursue his career in bodybuilding, however, it was a struggle for him. He had moved to the Mecca of Bodybuilding, Venice, California. However, he faced some difficulties that forced him to work as a limousine driver while working many odd jobs. In the end, he decided to enter pro wrestling and the rest is history.

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let?s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
