The Rock Looks Back on Broken Dreams as XFL Debut Nears: ‘My Dream of Making It to the NFL Never Came True, This is a Full Circle Moment for Me’

The Rock had a British conversation with Eli Manning and Peyton Manning during the Wild Card game between Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams. However, the conversation didn’t stick to just the NFL, but moved on to XFL as well.

 As most know, Dwayne Johnson is one of the owners of XFL. During the conversation, he spoke about the passion and culture that’s constantly brewing during the development of the league.

“I’m so excited about the XFL. We want to create a league of culture, a league of opportunity, a league of passion. And, this is, I use the term ‘Mana’ often and ‘Mana’ is a Polynesian word, that’s spirit. It’s the thing that lights up your skin with goosebumps when you’re feeling something.”

“There’s such a great feeling and momentum and Mana behind this league. It’s a reflection of our ownership. You have myself, you have Dany Garcia… we have Jerry Cardinal.”

Reportedly, XFL training camps will kick off in 2023 and Dwayne Johnson made the announcement on his social media.

The Rock wanted to pursue a career in the NFL

Today, almost everyone knows The Rock as the man who revolutionized pro-wrestling with his electrifying nature. He led WWE during one of its most successful times and emerged as one megastar of the company. However, ‘The Great One’ didn’t always dream of the ring. He dreamt of the field as well.

“I love football. My dream of making it to the NFL, that dream never came true. So, for me, this is a full-circle moment.”

Even though he never made it, he’s taking the opportunity as an XFL owner to create a platform for anyone with a tad bit of passion for the game. He’s not limiting it to the ones with top-level skills. The Rock is ensuring to give everyone the opportunity to play the game they love.
