WWE Issues Official Statement On Zelina Vega’s Shocking Release

Releases are nothing new in the business of Sports Entertainment. However, when a release happens out of nowhere, it definitely raises some eyebrows. That is exactly what happened when WWE released Zelina Vega, hours before SmackDown.
Just 2 hours before this week’s SmackDown, WWE released a brief statement about Vega. It read, “WWE has come to terms on the release of Zelina Vega. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

The statement left fans shocked and confused. Vega unsuccessfully competed last week in a triple threat match with Ruby Riott and Natalya to become the next member of the Blue Brand’s team at Survivor Series. She moved to SmackDown a few weeks ago, as a part of this year’s draft.

Zelina Vega releases brief statements after WWE release
After the release, Zelina too posted two brief statements on Twitter and Instagram, respectively. In the first message, she publicly supported unionization. She even replied to former colleague Paige’s message about it from October.

She posted the second message on Instagram. It was a gif of her new Twitch channel as she captioned it’ “See you on Twitch!” The video further fueled speculations about the nature of the Superstar’s release.

The 29-year-old initially had a limited on-screen WWE role, serving as Andrade’s manager in NXT, back in 2017. Vega continued to do so following his move to the main roster.

However, she branched off into a singles career of her own. She and Andrade had a fallout, and she moved to SmackDown. Vega unsuccessfully challenged Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship at Clash of Champions in September.
