Mixed martial athletes excelling in the pro wrestling world is not an uncommon occurrence. One need not look further than Ken Shamrock and Ronda Rousey who have dominated both sports with ease. These types of performers are already trained in combat maneuvers. And it is comparatively less complex for them to grasp the art of competing in the sports entertainment field. However, not all find such success in the squared circle. A former UFC Light Heavyweight champion has recently opened up on his ordeal in the squared circle which didn’t turn out how he wanted.

Wrestling promotions are quick to take punts on athletes who have previous experience in combat sports. Though, it is not a sure-shot way of getting success all the time. Both the company and the would-be performer have to put in the hard yards to gain the trust of fans.

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is a well-known name in the UFC and MMA world. So when he decided to join TNA back in 2013,  there was a lot of excitement. But his stay with the promotion was not fruitful and ended abruptly.

Those were strong words against a promotion that not long ago was considered a direct rival to WWE. The former Light Heavyweight champion was then asked to explain what really happened.

Jackson was looking to achieve what Ronda Rousey has in pro wrestling.

He disappointingly stated, “They were supposed to train me, they sent a ring to my gym. But they never sent anybody over to train me and they never put the time in to train me. I was serious about it who knows? I probably would’ve left MMA and been like Ronda Rousey or somebody by now“.

Especially, after his storeyed MMA career that involved him winning prestigious titles. Apart from his aforementioned dominance in the UFC, ‘Rampage’ was successful in other promotions as well. He had a title-winning stint at Bellator MMA and also amassed success at Japan’s Pride Fighting Championships. But Jackson’s short-lived career in wrestling can only be termed a disaster.

It’s quite impossible to predict exactly what heights Quinton Jackson’s wrestling career could have reached. He even claimed that it might have been as successful as Ronda Rousey in WWE. But thanks to the TNA’s lukewarm treatment, his fans would not be able to know that. Nevertheless, his career in MMA is enough to leave a lasting legacy in combat sports.
