343 Industries has just announced that Xbox exclusive Halo Infinite won’t release until the Fall of 2021. This comes as disappointing news to Xbox Series X/S owners who were left without an exclusive at lunch.

In an introduction written by Joseph Staten, who joined 343 in August as a new project lead, defined the release of the game as “just the beginning of the adventure.”

The devs announced a delay in release owing to the complications caused by the ongoing pandemic. Moreover, a Fall release for the title essentially means that the devs have pushed the release by almost a year.

“After Reach shipped, I became a Halo fan, cheering on 343i from the sidelines,” Staten wrote. “But I’ve spent the last four months immersing myself back into the Halo universe, and it’s my honor as creative director to help our team ship Halo Infinite in Fall 2021.”

343 had given the world a glimpse of the title back in July this year. The response, however, was rather underwhelming. Staten revealed that the decision to take more time to do things right was taken unanimously.

The post also touches upon the issues the community raised back in July. The director of art management Neill Harrison called the community’s response a rather “humbling” one.

“Much of the feedback we heard from the community aligned with our own views and work we were already committed to doing around things like indirect lighting, material response, foliage and tree rendering, clouds, level-of-detail transitions, and character fidelity,” he said.

Harrison admitted that the response opened a whole another world of opportunities for the studio. In addition, the team has made considerable changes since July. The team has adjusted dynamic lighting “to add more punch and contrast to the image”

The Xbox and its honest patrons have had a rocky start to the console war. Not only has the Xbox witnessed several issues, not having a title at launch has more or less nullified the excitement of a new console.

Will there be any more delays in the release of Halo Infinite? Stay tuned to find out.
