Despite the awful pandemic, the year has been pretty eventful for the gaming community. Both Sony and Microsoft have announced the date and the prices of the PS5 and Xbox Series, respectively. While Sony has announced a series of exclusive titles, Cindy Walker believes Xbox’s’ success won’t depend on exclusives.

Xbox has constantly emphasized on its ecosystem rather than the number of exclusive games accompanying it. Devs have also pushed Halo Infinite’s release to 2021.
“Having Halo at our launch would have been tremendous,” said Cindy.”But we are not reliant on massive exclusive titles to drive console adoption. Our players will have thousands of games from four generations of Xbox available to play on launch day.”

Where does the Xbox stand in the console war?
343 industries announced a while back that Halo Infinite wouldn’t make its way to the ramp this year. This came as a pitfall to the fans who had been waiting for the next title in the franchise for years. However, users can access a huge catalog of games through backward compatibility and the Xbox game pass.
Microsoft has been on the hunt to acquire new studios to broaden its horizon. But it’s rather disappointing that Xbox fans don’t have a lot of exclusives to look forward to this year.

On the other hand, PS5 is potentially winning the console war as a range of exclusives are going through their last touches and are ready to roll out this year. This includes Spider-Man Miles Morales, which was highlighted at the PS5 showcase just a few days back.

However, Xbox might be able to create a niche for itself thanks to its aggressive pricing policy. But again, is that enough? We can only answer this question once the console rolls out. It’s too soon to decipher where Xbox stands, but the fans feel its time that Microsoft paid more attention to exclusives.
