The Xbox showcase in July revealed a few brand new titles coming up on the Series X. That included Halo: Infinite, which broke the internet later on with memes. Both PS5 and Xbox are going head to head this year with brand new consoles up for release. Microsoft has been quiet, for some time now, about the console’s future and left many asking for more. People want to know the price, the release date, and also when both consoles will be available for pre-order. But some of Phil Spencer’s recent comments have the community speculating if there is an event lined up in August!

Making an appearance on a podcast by YouTube channel iJustine, Phil Spencer made some interesting comments. ‘
“I’m encouraged to be able to talk more about it – should be August. I think August we’ll have more to say on that.”

He specifically was talking about ‘backward compatibility’ in Xbox. This initiative will optimize games from previous generation consoles to be compatible with the next-gen machines. Yet, this comment later prompted many to believe that Xbox was planning for an August event. Fans of the franchise also believe this might be the launch event for Xbox Series S. The Series S (Lockhart) is, reportedly, an iteration of the Series X, with less powerful specifics. There were previous rumors about it and the timing is uncanny for many to believe this might be it!

July brought us the Xbox Showcase with 22 new titles being announced. From August, we can expect a fair amount of information to drop. Firstly, ‘backward compatibility’ – how it’s going to work and which titles are coming back. Next, we have Project xCloud.
